Dylan J. Edwards, PhD, has accepted the position of director of the Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute (MRRI) starting in August of 2018. He will replace John Whyte, MD, PhD, who has brilliantly led the research enterprise at MossRehab for the past 25 years and announced his decision to retire from the director position at the end of 2018.
Dr. Edwards was born and educated in Perth, Western Australia. He is currently Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine and the director of the Brain Stimulation & Robotics Laboratory and the Restorative Neurology Clinic, at Burke Medical Research Institute in White Plains, NY. He also holds the title of professor of neuroscience at the Edith Cowan University in Australia and is a lecturer in neurology at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Edwards received a Ph.D. in clinical neurophysiology from the University of Western Australia in 2004 and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Centre for Neuromuscular and Neurological Disorders at the University of Western Australia in 2005.
His research focuses on non-invasive electrical stimulation and robotics in neurorehabilitation. He has received grants from federal, state, industry and private philanthropic organizations in excess of $7 million.
